“Because memory builds and moves, what is revealed becomes an inter-woven dream space. My goal in the end: canvas that becomes palimpsest, having gathered relevant and seemingly random information.”

— Beck Berrett

Beck Berrett, a New York City artist, lives and paints in Greenpoint Brooklyn.  Working primarily in oil and mixed media two dimensional pieces, her current directions include abstracted land and seascapes.

One of her visual stimuli is distortion. NYC is a great place to find this distortion- found through window reflections of the urban skyline, light shining though the atmosphere or thru the surfaces of water.

Needing ample surface area in which to catch the "debris" (emotion in the form of color, random marks, and symbolism as narrative), Berrett works multiple canvases side by side.  The characters or players in the more narrative pieces repeat and resurrect reborn in later works.

Berrett has shown in various group shows in the following NYC galleries: Heidi Cho Gallery, Yes Gallery, A.I.R. Gallery, the Painting Center, and Van Deb Editions. She was included in The Noyes Museum’s exhibition Alice: Into the Looking Glass, February 2012 in New Jersey. She has had two solo exhibitions, one at Dialog Gallery in Roanoke Virginia May- July 2009 and the other at Alpine Art in Salt Lake City March, 20 to April 17th, 2015.
